Ty Marbut is from
Missoula and Butte, Montana. He began his musical career at age 9
playing the trumpet, an instrument which he continues to play in several
ensembles today. He picked up guitar when he was 11 years old with
some beginning instruction from his father, Gary, and has accompanied himself
singing ever since. Ty has also played drums with several groups,
plays bass (got a new acoustic-electric in early September 2005), plays
Banjo (got a Banjo around Thanksgiving of 2005), plays French Horn in the
St. Paul's concert band, trumpet in the St. Paul's jazz band, has beat-boxed
to a considerable extent, and has at least dabbled in playing harmonica,
keyboard, Native American flute, Eb baritone, flugelhorn, lap steel guitar,
and tympani. Ty was 16 at the time of the release of “Stairwell Tour…”,
the day he became a junior at St. Paul’s School.
Ty also wrote an
in-depth analysis fiction of the song “The People of the World”. Click
here to view. It’s long, but good.

I did this album for family and friends for Christmas. I played all the parts myself, including all vocals, all guitars, bass, drums, banjo, doumbek, keyboard, lap-steel guitar, and the little shaker-egg thing. And any other instruments I may have forgotten. The style of some of the songs are a little outside my usual style, but they were really fun to do.
